Hey kids, this is your chance to sew all week long.  You choose the times:  morning, afternoon or all day.  We have lots of material to keep you very busy sewing all week.  Each session will have different projects. We will be going over the basics of sewing and the tools of the trade, other than the sewing machine, for teens and young adults.  We will be selecting and reading a pattern, taking measurements, choosing fabrics, laying our patterns, reading pattern markings, cutting and basic construction.  Finishing techniques will also be demonstrated.

Learn how to put a basic garment together.  Choose a pattern that fits you properly and learn the various sewing techniques for garment construction.  From shopping for the right supplies to finished project, you will complete a simple garment by the last session.

useage. Please come knowing how to use your own or one of our classroom machines.
"Machine Basics for Novices" is a great plase to receive this start-up information

This is a beginning level tailoring class for the confident beginner or intermediate sewist.  In this class you will make a basic jacket or coat from a commercial pattern while learning how to select the appropriate fabric for your pattern.  You will be taught how the inner structure of the garment affects the external shape and you will learn how to make welt pockets and bound buttonholes.

Before the sewing machine was invented, all garments were made by hand.  Learn basic utility hand stitches including the best needle and thread to use with each type of stitch.  Not only will you finish this class with a better understanding of the fine art of hand stitching, you will have completed a set of samples for your sewing notebook.
